Biography

Reuben "safe-hands" Holt proved a revelation in his debut season for Mansfield/Merton, and was promptly appointed captain for his second year. Although he prefers to see things from the back he is very vocal and defends his own area with his life. He uses gloves if necessary. He is massive in the tackle department and broke in many unwary centre-forwards last term. The footballers of Mansfield/Merton are very glad he only dabbled with the "rugger" bugger elements of college briefly although they do find his penchant for the post-match communal shower somewhat disarming.

Don't back yourself in a shoot-out against him...he once saved two penalties in one match.

Never off the lash, it is rumoured that Reuben keeps Somerset cider in his water bottle.

In his second season at the club Reubs found a loophole in OUAFC regulations allowing his to play outfield for M+Ms second team in Cuppers. Criticised by many as simply an egotistical excuse to play more games than anybody else, Reubs proved his doubters wrong by scoring a screamer from about 45 yards out.

Sadly, his horrific experiences in the Somerset Light Infantry during the Great War rendered him incapable of observing a throw in without involuntarily shouting "Tempo, Tempo!"
